Christmas Craft Cross Stitching

In the run up to Christmas, it is great to start thinking about some easy Christmas crafts for either yourself or for your whole family to get involved with. The list of options is absolutely endless and crafting is as popular today as it has been for centuries. Home produced craft items are not only just great for Christmas presents but are also a wonderful way to decorate your home over the holiday period. Why pay out lots of money for wreaths and tree decorations when there are a multitude of ways to produce your own unique items which will not only be cheaper than store bought decorations but will be much more attractive.

The season for making easy Christmas crafts starts early. In fact, there are no time limits. You could spend much of the year making items which you can then give as gifts or use as decorations. You could even go into business and sell you products at crafts fairs in the run up to the holiday season and make yourself some extra cash. If you start early, then you will be able to make advent calendars which the children can open every day during December and count down the days until the 25th. These can take many forms but a very popular version is the wall hanging with a numbered individual pocket for each day. You can then put a chocolate into each pocket, or, if you prefer, a small toy. I always think that it is a great idea to use a wall hanging calendar such as this in conjunction with a small tree. That way you can put a small tree decoration into each pocket. These can then be taken out each day and put onto the tree which will become more and more attractive and decorated as the 25th approaches.

These tree decorations can all be homemade and there is a huge variety of easy Christmas crafts than can be incorporated into tree decorations. Characters such as angels and toy soldiers can be made from traditional wooden clothes pegs or simple shapes can be cut from balsa wood. These can then be painted and a ribbon fitted ready to be hung onto the tree.

In the run up to the holiday season, it is also great to produce your own Christmas cards. There are many different styles of cards which you can make using easy Christmas crafts. You could use decoupage or cross stitch for really special cards or perhaps try your hand at lino printing. As long as you leave yourself plenty of time you should be able to make cards for all your family and friends.

The holiday season is a great time of the year for the craft enthusiast and even if you have limited experience there are so many easy Christmas crafts available that you have no excuse for spending out lots of money on store bought decorations and gifts.
