Anyone know a good knitting book?
I want a knit book with projects like making a sweater. Anyone know a good book with the patterns/instructions? I have been learning the stitches online and I have been making a scarf. I know that it is a little early to be looking at making bigger and better projects, but I want to look forward to something.
For a learner, I would suggest “Stitch and Bitch- The knitter’s Handbook” by Debbie Stoller. It has projects to make as you go along with the learning process, including a simple sweater, and for the younger generation, the patterns are pretty cool.
I don’t think it’s not too early for anything. My very second project was a sweater…my first was a pair of leg warmers (worked flat and seamed…hey, it was the 80’s 
The sweater wasn’t perfect, but it was very wearable. I loved it! Look, it’s only knitting, and it’s meant to be fun, right?
To make a garter stitch (knit every row) sweater, you really only need to know how to cast on, knit, increase, decrease, cast off, and seam. That’s really not alot to learn. Add the purl stitch to those skills, and the skies the limit. You can make it a bulky loose sweater like I did, so you don’t have to worry about getting the fit perfect.

It’s a great knitting community, sort of like a “My space” for knitters, only better Lots of free patterns found via a great pattern browser, and chock full of groups and forums full of all sorts of helpful knitters (over 100,000 of us around the world) to help you out every step of the way if you need it. We love beginners! We all were one once. You have to sign up, and wait a few hours for approval, but it’s worth it! You can find me there, under the nickname “buttonbrite”! Search for me in “people” and I’ll be glad to help you any way I can…but I’ll likely have to stand in line. Knitters are an extremely helpful lot.
